yes,duration is very important.running too little with a higher compression motor will result in hard starting,overheating & detionation.cam timeing specs should also be looked at for a cam that will put power in the RPM range you want it in
Hey I'm thinking of pulling the jugs off my 89 evo and putting in some 10-1pistons has anyone done this and what problems did you have?
No problems whatsoever if in fact you bring a cam along to bleed some of the increased ccp you'll be building.
A Wiseco 10.0 cr piston has a dome volume of 12.9cc's, for instance.
Under the OEM HD chamber, even with a .030" head gasket, it comes out to around 9.8 cr.
That said, a Wood 6, Andrews 27/3/46 will all work.
Comp Cams, Crane & S&S all have cams with an intake closing/lift numbers that'll be at home in that bike.
