Default 2007 96" Heritage cam plate/ oil pump with cam upgrade?

I was told that with an upgraded cam that the cam support plate and oil pump should also be upgraded. Are these needed or is the "stock" parts going to work. I have done stage 1 but of course feel the need to do more. I have a set of SE255's on the way and need to know if the extra cost is needed. I have searched and found a few threads but none that answered my question well enough. Thanks for any replies!!

HD went to hydraulic tensioners and a different oil pump with the 06 Dyna and in 07 the rest of the Twin Cams. You already have the latest oil pump and cam plate, they'll server you just fine.

The only thing wrong with the OEM cam plate is that the outer cam journals run in the parent (aluminum) material of the cam plate. The upgraded billet plate has bronze bushings for the outer cam journals to run in. It is rare but I have seen the rear (drive) cam journal in the OEM plate wear prematurely with performance cams. Just saying that chances are, you will have no issues but if you can afford the upgraded billet plate (also includes a higher capacity oil pump) it is a worthwhile upgrade. JMHO.

No need to change the plate or pump.
