Tuning carb?
My 94 softail has a screaming eagle air cleaner, and I think it's running too lean. I have to turn the mixture screw out about 5-6 times for it to run smoothly. I have stock pipes.
I checked the plugs after freeway riding and they are white. So, I think at both idle and mid range it's running lean. I don't want to burn up the motor. Does anybody know what jet size to put in my carb to fix this? It's a stock HD carb.
I was given the bike so I don't know if the jets have been changed...doesn't seem that way.
I want to eventually get some bolt on mufflers, which I believe will make it run even more lean...is this correct?

Jetting has a lot of variables , this will get you in the neighborhood, id use a 46 slow, and say a 180 ish main, also you can add fuel by using a sportster needle or Shims, you should read up on this on night riders website. Do as he says , but do not enlarge the vaccum hole in the slide ! Good luck ,
