Evo cylinder installation question
Hi there
I've just reinstalled the cylinders for my Fat Boy back on the crankcase, but the cylinders seem to sit loose within the cylinder studs (without the head being torqued down).
The cylinders don't seem to be a very precise fit when sitting on the crankcase. I can move/rotate the cylinders within the studs by as much as 1/8". There is one dowel pin on the crankcase that locates in a hole in the bottom of the cylinder, but that doesn't really stop the play between the cylinder studs and hole in the cylinders that the studs go through.
The cylinders obviously can't move when the heads are torqued down, but I would have thought that the cylinders have to be in a precise location to match pistons.
It's like there is supposed to be a second dowel pin on the crankcase (like on the top of the cylinders used to locate the heads).
Am I missing something?
