Head porting 95" build??
Getting ready to go back together with a build on an 06 Ultra. HD flat top pistons, Andrews TW26 cams, have a fuel tuner and Rinehart slip-ons, Question is what to do with heads if anything? I ride conservatively, just looking for some more torque. I rarely pass 4500 rpm. I really would like to use stock pushrods but am going with a .030 head gasket. Valve job? Port Job? Measure cc volume?? How much can you mill from heads and still use stock push rods? I am not looking to squeeze the last point of compression to the point I'm going to need a perfect tune to ride or have starting issues when hot. Any advice???

The 06 heads are actually really good heads and flow really well, there's nothing wrong with having a valve job done and checking on the guides, I wouldn't get real crazy with a bunch of port work, but contact a reputable head guy like hillside and speak with him, see what it cost for a nice 3 angle valve job and cc'ing the heads, good luck on your build ! '06 heads flow fairly well compared to previous years; major changes in '06. A good Serdi valve job, new guide seals, etc., and mill the heads to set static CR at 9.6. If your chambers measure 85cc, it would take a .015" cut to get there. That would set lifter preload at about .145" leaving only .055" of plunger travel. Some might run stock pushrods with that much preload but I would opt for adjustables.
