Default The best air intake set-up?

Sorry if this has been asked before. What is the best air intake set-up? I have an 05 15th Anniversay Fatboy which comes stock with a stage I AC and am wondering if there is something else out there that performs better. Helped a friend put a Ness "Big Sucker" on his Dyna this past weekend and you could notice the difference in performance.

Just wondering what others are running and their thoughts.

(Getting sick of my buddy's bike. Every time he upgrades it ends up costing me more $$$$$ )

Thanks,

I run a Ness Big Sucker, I haven't tried any other than stock, but the Ness kit was easy to fit and runs well. I sprayed my backing plate with high heat mat black paint to match the engine and I like the look. I see that Ness have now brought ot a bigger stage 2 kit, and I'm trying to get hold of a stage two filter to replace mine as it looks like a straight swap. The filter is covered by the round nostalga chrome cover which I think looks good.

Bottom line is I can't fault the kit and I would use this Ness kit if I got another bike.

Here's some info on stages http://www.american-v.co.uk/technica...ing/index.html

The upgraded or "stock" setup you have on that bike will run about 100/100 without any problems.Only when You get over this in power does a better intake help out.

I thought that may be the case, but as the filter gets a little dirty it will become less efficient. I figured that if my setup only uses for arguements sake 80% of the air flow capacity of the stage 2 when new it will still flow well by the end of the year when I service it.

Not sure if it will work that way but it kind of makes sense to me

Everybodies a newby at sometime, nobody is born with the knowledge to fix most things, just ask questions and learn how to do most things yourself. You'll feel better about it afterwards

I have decided on the ness big sucka, but stage 1 or stage 2? (i will have pipes and SERT installed) I saw on a parts catalog website that the stage 2 gives 20% greater airflow and it's only 10 more dollars. Does the 20% = more horsepower/torque? Will the stage 2 be too hard on the engine?
