Default Throttle Sticking After S And S Carb Rebuild

Just rebuilt the S and S super e carb on an 89 FXR and after installing the carb and replacing the throttle and return cable I'm having to return the throttle by hand and even after adjusting the cables up top the throttle isn't snapping back into place. The butterfly on the carb is snapping back into place if the carb is off but connected has to be returned by hand. I just installed a new throttle cable last week. Any ideas or suggestions would help for this first timer and all thoughts are appreciated.

Sounds like your return spring in your throttle cable bracket is missing or in a bind. I'd check that first.

If you re-built that with the Master Re-build Kit, the throttle plate may not be centered on the throttle shaft.

Did you machine and put the throttle shaft bushings in it? If so and it was not centered properly this can be a major problem.

I just had the same issue with my bike after rebuild. Turned out my THROTTLE LOCK was a little too tight! Needless to say I spent 15 minutes before realizing it was just the dang throttle lock. I don't know if your bike has one but check it if it does!
