I will never buy anything V&H. Many years ago about 25 or so I had a shop and called V&H long before they got HD crazy. Go on the subject of Harley s and they told me they would never have anything to do with a piece of junk Harley and look at them now!
A good tuned header will give you more performance. Just depends on what you want.

Bent over and grabbling their ankles w/a great HOE smile on their face.
I don't use their **** either, think a lot of it is over-rated and definately over-priced.

If you really do not plan on doing anything to the engine and just want sound then I would say a slip on muffler is all you need. Yet if there is an inkling that you may down the road want more performance then spend this initial money and get a complete exhaust system. Being a performance oriented shop we would recommend either way you go that you spend the money for a good tuner such as the Power Vision or TTS.
My understanding is that Freedom Performance is made of guys from V&H who thought they were ripping off the consumer so that started their own exhaust company and sell similar systems for less money.
