RE: 95" HQ Heads, HQ-0039 cams, etc.
I'd like to jump in on this...I did notice an increase in valve train noise but I'm attributing that to the lift of the cam. I believe what I'm hearing is the valve snapping shut. I used HQs EZ intall adjustable pushrods (I think they are from Andrews...but not sure). In the instructions they say to remove all lash from the pushrod (making sure the valves are completely shut) and adjust 3-4 turns. I adjusted to 3 and heard alot of clatter...then to 4 and still have a bit of noise. From what I can see, I believe the lifter plunger is collapsed about 3/8 - 1/2 inch...approx 1/2 of it's travel. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
The additional top end noise doesn't really bother me...but I'm used to driving muscle cars with 500plus hp so the noise isn't a big issue for me.
