I would do the 117....or just leave it at 103. Doesn't seem worth the money to go from 103 to 107. I know there are lots of 113 and 117's out there with no issues. I wouldn't think there would be longevity issues. But I am far from an expert. lol.

Short answer is no; all other factors being equal.

Longevity should not be an issue excluding abuse and lack of regular maintenance. Both motors are "stroked" so the additional piston speed is not an issue. Anyway, consider how many miles you ride in a year; 2000, 5000 or more. Even if the longevity was affected, say by 20%. 100K miles on the 103" becomes 80K miles on the 117"; how many years is that?

When guys start talking longevity or lack thereof in cases like this, I just have to scratch my head and wonder what they are concerned about. Put engine life in perspective and the context of how many miles one will roll up in a year.

What I am concerned about is the added heat and more wear and tear on the valve train, namely the springs, seats, pushrods. I am meticulous in my maintenance. My 37k 103 motor issue started when my stock internal parts and crank started to get excessive run out.
I do ride interstate usually in Aug/Sept and it can get friggin hot. So I think I am going to stay with the 103, it will be built bulletproof and everything will be balanced, flowed and matched.

Man that is a sweet ride! I just built one similar with the same motor, minus the Jims crank...not a big fan of Jims at all. I agree go to the two in one exhaust. I have the thunder header it has a few flat spots on the dyno but nothing to write home about. Again very nice ride!

I was considering going to a 2-1. I think I'll hold off for a while. Honestly, this bike has more than I will ever need on the street and it just doesn't seem worth it to drop 600-1200 for the few HP and TQ I'd get. The screamin eagle II's sound great as it is. I think I'll just ride the **** out of it for now and in a couple years maybe switch to a 2-1 if, or when, my current exhaust starts to rust or look like ****. Like I said, at over 100/100....the bike has plenty of **** and get and the cost of the exhaust doesn't seem worth it. I think my next mod will be getting rid of my rear signals and switching to an LED layback taillight with built it turn signals. Maybe get a few things powder coated.

Your call but I think you will be kicking yourself in the butt if you ever get to throw a leg over a well tuned 117" motor. There may be bit of additional heat but it is nothing an oil cooler won't take care of and there is no additional wear/tear on the valve train. Use the OEM beehive springs and unless you decide to run one of Mr. Woods noisemakers, she will be as quiet as your 103. Your ride; you decide. JMHO.

Yeah I agree with what you said! I have the Kuryakyn tail light with intergrated signals. Looks good works great.
