Default need help with 03 Eg standard HELP Please idle problems

I just got a 03 eg standard. It had not been ridden in about a year Starts fine but when you blip the throttle it is slow to return to idle. When shifting it doesn't drop off much either since the throttle only closes for a second. It has a stage one intake and slip ons. I pulled the carb and sprayed the idles screw the slow jet and main jets and sprayed the carb down some. It made it maybe slightly better. I noticed the slow jet is a 48 and the main is a 180 shouldn't it be richer with a intake and pipes. The idle mixture plug had already been removed and I adjusted the screw about 1 1/2 turns or so out. What do I do now?

Sitting for a year with ethanol fuel in the system has clogged/gummed up the carb and probalby the filter at the fuel shutoff valve. Drain the tank, pull the fuel shutoff valve, clean and replace the screen filter, take the carb apart and clean everything from the slide down, remove the emulsion tube and jets, spray carb cleaner in all the orifices and passages and blow them out with compressed air, get a rebuild kit and replace the basic parts, like needle/seat, diaphram, accelerator pump and gaskets. Put her back togehter and try it again. You should find a "happy" place for the A/F screw somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5 turns out.

Don't mess with jetting until you have addressed the basic issue. 48 slow is, IMHO, too much for an 88" Stage I; 46 is more like it. 180 main doesn't bother me so much but it might take a 185. Check the needle for the PN and see if any washers have been placed on the needle to raise it up a tad.

well I pulled it apart and cleaned the carb again. Everything appears to be clean I didnt' rebuild the carb but can't see why I would need to? Not really a lot of build up either. Had a lot on the air fuel screw needle. Cleaned that off while I was cleaning it. The slow jet is a 45 there is a adjustable needle on it with the clip in the third slot. Also the fuel elbow seems to be a new one as it is brass not the plastic one. Bike does better but still hangs a little when you blip the throttle and seems to "surge" when you are try to cruise it slow like in first gear or 2nd gear like if you were cruising through a parking lot it jerks. pops on decel also. Everything i have read seems like classic symptoms of intake seals leaking but can't figure out why they would be with 11000 miles. Wondering if I need to go with a bigger pilot jet. I need to do something or I am going to have to break down and take to a shop.
