Default Engine swap

Hi,
My question is , can I swap a 2006-07 96 b-motor with a 2001 fxst softail.
My main motor bearing went on me on my last road trip. took out the stator and cracked the lower housing for the motor. I can get a good deal on ebay for a newer motor, but, not sure if it will fit & run without any major modifications.

Assume you are wanting to install the later motor in the early frame? You could do it but it will be painful and expensive; primary side is completely different. If an '07, you have to deal with the primary and, not sure about this, but the '07 was backed by a six speed and don't know if the six speed case bolts up like the early five speed.

Do yourself a favor and get a reman or buy new cases and rebuild.
