Default Air filter question

This morning I started up my bike for a ride and as I pulled out of the driveway I had no power. Tried to roll on the throttle and nothing. Engine still running but no power and the check engine light came on. After about 20 seconds I got the slightest bit of power when giving it full throttle. Shut the engine down and let it sit for 30 seconds, started it back up and had full normal throttle and power. Rode for an hour and no problems. For some reason my thought was maybe I was not getting enough air flow into my air filter. Took it off and found it a little bit dirty but not bad. But what I did notice was a greasy film on the gasket and on the inside plating of the air filter.

Is this normal or is it a sign of a bigger issue?

Also noticed the 2 lines feeding into the air filter had a greasy film on them as well, especially the one on the right.

Thanks
John

I just went to clean the gasket and noticed the area of greasiness was the bottom of the gasket and also that area the gasket is not straight, it has a little wrinkle to it

Thanks

Those two hoses are connected to the crank vent/head breathers to vent crankcase pressure which includes an oil mist; what you are seeing is normal. Venting the breathers to the atmosphere will solve that problem but that is not your throttle problem. Search the forum for "crank vents" or "crankcase vents" or "breathers" and you should find some threads with pictures of breathers that have been vented to the atmosphere.

Your throttle problem could be a dirty TPS, throttle position sensor. You failed to mention what model, EFI or carb, modifications, etc.; I have assumed EFI. There are ways to test/check for voltage and if you have a fuel management system that allows data logging, you can check that way as well.
