Default Cams for a 2011 FLHTK with a 103 Twin Cam

Dealership quoted me the following prices:

SE 255 for $526 for cams and other parts needed (parts only)
$1036 for parts, installation, dyno and out the door
Woods Tw555 $685 for cams and other parts needed (parts only)
$1185 for parts, installation, dyno and out the door

They also gave me some dyno sheets of similar bikes they had done each cam jobs on (same intake & exhaust as mine) in the last few months so I can see what I might expect. They claimed I should expect to be running mid 90's HP and 110-115 Torque with either cams, but would have a different power curve depending on which set I chose.

Anyone think these prices are off base or have a recommendation about which cams they liked better?

My riding style to be a little heavy on the throttle, grabbing gears at about 4200-4500 RPMs.

Thanks in advance.

ouch seems costly. I kept going back/forth between the 255 and andrews 54h. I bought the 255's then sold them and went with the andrews. Better/easier start ups and a little more power band. I went with adjustable puchrods and had a tech do the install at his house after work. I had the bike tuned, but that's another story. I almost got 100/100 to the wheel.

I was looking more for a torque cam to move my road sofa. Good luck.

What ever you do- make sure to get it tuned right.

Without increasing the compression ratio to optimize for the 555's, I'd consider the new Wood 222, or the Andrews 48, non-emmision version of the 255.
That cam will help get rid of heat better than the 255.

+1. I would not run the 255 in a 103" configuration.

I'm thinking I'll go with a different option, the551CE Easy Start Cams from S&S. The stealer will do it if I want them too but they are not stocking them. An indy in my area is doing good things with them and they seem popular with 2 of his customers I spoke to. One of those guys has had them for a few months and rides 2 up with a trailer and has lots of low end TQ, so he said.

I have a buddy (MMI grad and 14 year HD tech) willing to help me install at his home/ shop and the indy will dyno/ tune after.

Before I do, I'll look at those cams too Bagger and Hillside...thanks for the replys.

Might be ready to do this mod this coming January.

As you suggested I'm looking at the woods 222 and Andrews 48. Both look good. So many options.

I would go with the Andrews 48s myself, not a fan of the easy start cams myself just something about the part moving back and forth on a parts that develops a specific wear pattern. When I was going to do cams dealer quoted me around $800, so it seems a bit high.

I was refering to the 48, but either that, or the Wood 222, will work, very well.
