Definately go syn, doesn't break down with heat improves engine protection, engine runs cooler, improved fuel economy etc. Syn3 compared to whats out their is marginal in performance, you could go worse. Most people that really are concerned with their fluids go either amsoil or mobile1... should definately but gear oil in the transmission... not the same stuff you put in the crank case... research the forums... lots of good info here.

Where's Earl? Sorry, wrong forum. Any way I'm fixing to get flogged but been running Syn3 in all 3 holes since day one. Got 40,000 miles on her now and never a problem. That said I am switching to Mobile1 syn in motor. Been wanting to switch for some time as HD dealer is 2hr away and getting Syn3 can be a pain. Walmart has Mobile and appears to be as good if not better than Syn3. Didn't want to switch brandswiththis many miles(old school) but doing a performance rebuild in 2 weeks so now a good time. What ever use a synthetic.

I have spoken to a bike mechanic (former Harley tech). He suggested that the Royal Purple is the was to go.
Only problem it isn't readily available where I am. He also suggested not to use same oil in the gear box and primary.
He said to go with gear oil.

1200cc Just kidding about "Earl". Every time some one ask about oil on another forum I'm on some one post a pic of Earl the oil bird. Earl is a close up of an emual with his eyes wide open. Will post if I can find it. I'm redneck to. Love to ride horses and Hogs!! Remember the only stupid question is one unasked. Like I said I'm running Syn3 in all holes. If I had it to do over would probably put something else in trans for sure. To much shearing going on. But with as many miles as I have now as one machanic said" If it an't broke dont fix it."
