Default K&N filter verses Stage 1 SE filter

I see that some dealers are now selling the K&N filter to replace the Stage 1 SE filter. Is there really much to be gained by switching out to the K&N?

Also on the K&N site it says just switch it out, so I take it theres not enough air flow change to warrant a new dyno on it? The ECM would auto adjust for the difference?

Thanks

The newer type SE filter is filer glass . You do not oil .
You wash it put it back.
for a long time the oil type like KN was the best option.
But times change the fiber glass provides more flow and filters better. It also saves money on the oil.
On the newer TC103's if you put the SE filter on the flow is so much better you should add some fuel how you do it is up to you.

Thats what I was wondering. I knew you wash not oil the new filters which is also what I had on my 08 Ultra.

It was the air flow I was wondering about. I went to the dealer since they sold them $60 and was going to buy one. They said we would be happy to take your money, but to be honest they have dyno'd with the K&N and the SE filter and they said there is nothing to be gained so save your money.

So I didn't buy it, They are going to dyno it tomorrow. I was hoping they would of had it done today but they will only get it all assembled and dyno'd tomorrow

So you saying the harley screaming eagle heavy filter is just to be washed with soap and let dry and requires no oil as in a K & N filter recharge kit?

You use the spray on cleaner or pour in the pan, but its only for the outside of the filter, then you rinse it from the inside out and you DON"T use any oil on it. Let it dry and put it back on.

I'll be another one that goes against the grain. I had a high-performance engine builder tell me years ago that he would never use a K&N filter. They allow way too much dirt to get into the engine. I've taken his advice and never used one.
