RE: Engine noise after gear drive installed
thanks Phil I thought something not right the Dealer is picking up the bike tomorrow. Had to run down the street to the local store started it up oil presure actually started flucuating while driving, When I pull up to stop oil pressure would drop to about 8 psi at idle, turn the bike off went in to the store came out started the bike the oil pressure at idle 35 psi then climb to 55, when driving it was less than 30 psi at 2500 rpm. I think you are right they either messed up a bearing, forgot to torque or miss installed something when they installed the cams.

Roller or ball bearings only need to stay wet and dont rely on oil pressure to work.Only inserts need pressure to work to float them off contact surface. In a harley, only the lifters, pinion bushing and piston cooling spray need oil pressure. noise described sounds like a misaligned pump or camplate, or lifters not getting enough pressure due to a leak in system somewhere. Could be an o-ring leak or problem with relief valve....would love to hear result or what they found out....

RE: Engine noise after gear drive installed
I was told and read numerous places that gear drive cams are nosier than chain cams. I just switched to S & S gear drive..........and there correct. Also, in the bike shop, they had a sample set of gear camsvs chain cams in a clear plasticbox. Without asking, I tested the box........yep, gear drive alot louder.........[8D]
