Default Drilling holes stock backplate

Merry Christmas all!

Will I still get the performance gain if I drill holes in my stock backplate and install a K&N airfilter?

Not really plus you need to change your air/ fuel mix with a PCIII or other managment system...and you need pipes to allow the bike to breath.

Sorry, I forgot to include the other mods. So, if I put slip ons, a SE off road stage 1 map download, and just the K&N filter and drill holes in the stock aircleaner backplate, will it breathe like an aftermarket backplate?

I tried that once on a 93 Superglide...it got me by for a little while but ultimately you want to spend the 120 for a SEAC kit. In either case you'll probably get some deceleration popping. Save up and go for a PCIII or sert. The PCIII is easier for the common guy to work with. Using a "canned" map from Dynojet for your specific combo will get the bike running 90-95 % efficient. You can't get there with out it. If you have it dynoed its even better. I've never had mine dynoed but it runs great now compared to stock.
