I just installed the TW8 cams along with a set of Black Ops lifters in my bike when I built it up to 107. It's a little noisier than stock, but it's not objectionable. I guess I've heard so much about how noisy those cams are, I was expecting something worse. I gather the Woods lifters are a good product, but I don't have any hands-on experience with them, and I'm curious if they're actually that much better to justify the expense. I'll be interested in your opinion of the Woods lifters/tw8 cams combo.

 

Ran a set of B lifters when I installed the gear drive cams. I was very careful about "gear lash" and only got a tick at idle.

I installed Black Ops just to see if there was a difference in noise and there was no difference, just the same tick at idle. Left them in there though.

I believe I paid about $180 for the set of 4.

 

I am adding the woods lifters and s and s roller rockers. I will let you know how it turns out.

 

I have run the Woods lifters with a couple TMans cams; a 590 and a 525. The 590 was noisy but the woods lifters quieted it down. Talked to TMan afterwards and he advised that I had a 5590 out of a batch that Andrews ground wrong and the ramps were few thousandths off, can't remember how many. Any way the Woods lifters made a difference. TMans cams are not known to be noisy but that 590 was. I have heard from some others that the Woods lifters didn't reduce valve train noise that much but you never know if they were adjusted properly.

 

FYI, rollers usually make more noise than stockers. Might want to do the lifters first and hold off on the rockers until you see if the lifters help.

 

Nice to know.. Until Bobby Woods finds out. Seems they like to hold the line close to MSRP on their stuff with distributers...

 

Are you using the johnson hy-lift with stock springs? I have stock springs & spoke with one of the places that sell the Johnson hy-lifts recommended the V2313 not the V-2313s.

I can tell my motor at temp makes a tad bit of valve train noise nothing insane just thinking the stiffer lifter might reduce some of that.

I don't know as much about lifers as alot of folks on here but they have worked well for me and they seem to be pretty reasonably priced.

i dont have too much valve train noise and for reference i am using SE tapered adj. pushrods, and andrews 37(adv. 4*)

 

Same here, as far as the plan to go onto head work, already have the adj pushrods & TW6 cam.
