Default 88 to 95 or 98 LOOKING FOR FEEDBACK

Heres what i have going. I have the cams and bottom end done.Mackie 510g cams. I have a set of cylinders and se cast flat top pistons that i could get bored to 95 inch. and than i would need a 0.30 head gasket and have my heads cc to 80cc and decked to get to my 9.8 comp. also i would clean up the heads with a street port.
Heres where Iam thinking again.Talk to a person and for a 98 I would go with a cp forged piston domed 10.0to1 comp with a 0.40 head gasket 85cc head and no decking to get my 9.8 comp. Also a street port.
guys give me some feedback on these two builds. Like I said I have the 95 piston kit but that doesnt mean I cant change my mind. What would I be losing or gaining.

3" makes the difference. That's what she said. All kidding aside, I'm looking at the same thing myself. It seems that there are some pretty stout 98's out there. More so then the 95's. I wouldn't think it would matter that much. I'm leaning towards the 98" unless there is a good difference in price.

Jurgie,
What bike and what riding style do have?
What is the power goal, that you are looking for?
We've been boring those to 98" and 96" to 107" since 2007.
Happy to lend a hand, to get you the biggest bang for the dollar.

ide stick with the .030 head gasket.better squish, less chance for detonation.we`ve also been doing the 98" kits for quite a while & recommend it over the 95".we`ve done a couple of these bulds with our street port & .510 mackie cams, worked out very well

Don't do it....unless you are willing to have the heads completely ported out.

an 88 with ported heads will smoke a 95 with stock heads.

The power is in the heads. You already have the "right" cams in my opinion.

So, I'd recommend a flat top 95 with fully ported heads, to go with your 510G cams.

A great touring combo, set at only 9.6 cr would be this for example"
Our Stage II Heads
Bore to 98"
Andrews 26 cams.
BIG torque coming off the bottom, and the head/cubes will pull it out on the other end.
The substitution of an Andrews 37, would push your torque peak to the right a bit, but have more in the upper rpm ranges.
Compression on that would be 10.0.
When touching that 190 psi number, releases are a very good idea, particularly on hot re-starts.
