Default CV carb ...HELP!

carb was running fine.... just wanted to beef it up a bit, make it a bit more snappy

rebuilt the carb....

-replaced the main at 185, and pilot at 46 (stock was 180 and 45)
-replaced float needle
-replaced slide needle
-replace accel diaphragm and spring
-adjusted float level

....blew the entire carb out...cleaned every little nook and passage

installed carb, and the thing is overflowing into air filter, wicked

i have taken everything off and re-inspected everything... took everything back apart...re-checked float level over and over and over again....and STILL, overflowing into air filter and overflow tube

can anyone shed any light on what the heck is going on, please? ....so frustrating

here's the changes i made in addition to carb build...

-repainted tanks and reinstalled with new gas caps (right cap is vented, left is non-vented

also, what'll happen is that i'll assemble the carb...install it....open enrichener, and fire it up....and it will run....make the necessary idle adjustments and she gets up to operating temp, and no problem (enrichener closed).....so, i decide to shut down bike...then, i shut off the petcock

...around 15 minutes later, the carb is puking fuel all over the place...even with the petcock in 'off' position

???

i'm losing my mind...lol

Debris in the tanks, from the paint work, working it's way to the carb, holding the needle off the seat??

flushed the tanks, entirely.....float valve is not hanging up....i even did a bench test on the floats to see if they were buoyant and rose

i think i found the problem, though..... the petcock won't completely shut off when in 'off' position....vents in carb are clear, but with the gas flowing at a fast trickle on 'off' position there isn't any real vent from the tank ...thus creating pressure in the float body forcing fuel up and out of everywhere

Once you stopped that made more pressure in the tank due to the engine heat rising up and warming the fuel tanks as well, and like you said the increased pressure has to go somewhere. The tank should be vented to the other tank that has the vented cap though. So I would check to see if the left tank is venting into the right as it should.
