Default compression test

I have a 82 sportster I've been working on, I just did a compression test. The manual says it should be at 120psi, I'm getting 100psi on both cylinders. If i put a little oil in and then test I get 120psi. Anything to worry about? The manual says ring trouble.

For an 82, getting 100 lbs is nothing to worry about. The oil will bring up the compression in any engine by volume displacement in the cylinder. Hope you did the test with the throttle opened wide . You will also see a difference in pressure when warmed up .

Ride and be happy!

The amount of pressue, within reason, is not as much of an issue as having both cylinders within 5 or 10% of each other. At 100 lbs, you are not down enough to matter.

Bill
