Ok, this happened all of a sudden. The fuel gauge light still works but the fuel gauge itself doesn't. Any suggestions...

what year make and model I had an '05 fxst the same thing happened it was fuel injected i pulled the gauge out and found that there was a wire that came undone. Soldierd it back together and it worked fine again. it was a little orange wire if im not mistaken i dont have the bike anymore and it was about 3 years ago when it happened. This will be on the sending unit itself not at the visible gauge on top of the tank. The sending unit is nothing more then a Rheostat they too can wear out. Good luck to you!

 

oh and make sure you give it time for hte fuel to dry off before doing any repair to it useing heat! Safe then Sorry!
