Default Will slip ons fit on 1-3/4" drag pipes?

I have 1-3/4" drag pipes and was wondering if they could be cut down and used with slip on mufflers. Does any one know the i.d. of a slip on, or have they ever done this? Thanks. I ultimately would like a good 2-1 system, but need to stick with a budget right now. Thanks.

I would try to keep the pipes the same length when you cut them off. Just use a tape measure and measure from the flange.

Thanks for the replies. I know my pipes are 1-3/4" o.d., but did not know what the i.d. was on stock or aftermarket mufflers. The bike came with the drag pipes when I bought it and they are not to my liking. I considered baffles, but some are a bit pricey for what they are. I have seen stock mufflers for sale as low as $50. Does anyone have any recommendations for which slip on mufflers are best? Also, can the baffles in stock mufflers be changed to perform better?

Baffles can be removed from stock pipes, but it ain't easy. They're welded in there, so you'l need a hole saw just the right size and a slide hammer to grab the baffle and pull it out. It's quite labor intensive and there's a good chance you'll screw up chrome in the process. For all the effort involved you're better off getting a pair of performance mufflers.

As for the "best" ones, there are probably as many answers to that as there are posters. I'm partial to Supertrapp because with the tunable discs the power band can be moved up or down with the addition or removal of discs, which also changes the sound level. Some, maybe most, of the aftermarket mufflers have baffles which are easily removed and replaced. Rush mufflers have several options for baffles, for instance. One bolt and the baffle slides out.

They're all expensive, but you bought a HD (Hundred Dolla...)
