Default True Duals to a Fat Cat, Lost it all....

Hello,
I was after a tad more on the bottom end so I replaced my Rinehart True Duals with a D&D Fat Cat, quiet baffle and although I may have gained just a little on the bottom end, I lost my entire midrange (slug)

Not sure if the baffle is that restrictive (should not be) or if my Revolution Performance EMS will take some time to readjust itself for the new pipe. I was told that this change was made immediately but am now doubting that.

Anyone else experiance something like this?

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't rely on the electronics myself, I'd much rather have the bike dynoed and done properly. That is the only way you are likely to solve the problem IMHO.

I have a carb bike and when I swapped from TDs to a 2-into-1 I had my bike dynoed and gained torque right through the mid range. Bike runs much nicer than before.

Ride it for a few days and see if your EMS sorts it out. I've noticed with the Power Commander autotune that it takes a couple of runs to get dialed in. You can feel it happening as you ride.

I've had such good luck with Rinehart TDs over the years that I'm pretty well sold on them. I had a fatcat fall into my lap earlier this summer, and was going to put it on the bike just to see if it made any difference at all, but wound up selling it to a friend before I ever got around to trying it.

Something is wrong. When I replaced my 103" Streetglides true duals with a Fat Cat quiet baffle, I gained 10 h.p. and a couple of ft. lbs. of torque. Now I'm not a fan of dyno numbers, especially since the bike was tuned on two different dynos a couple of years apart. The big deal was the bike was way, way more responsive. It jumps now when I twist the throttle and pulls away from bikes that use to hang right with me. I don't have an auto tuner though. Both exhaust changes were dyno tuned using a SERT.

No offense to anyone but after feeling the difference my Fat Cat made I'd never consider duals again. The bike is way more fun this way.

I don't have any experience with auto tuners, but I hope that thing gets your bike running right. I hear they take time to get the tune right. Will it auto adjust your ignition timing as well as fuel air mixture?

I'm with Northside; the FatCat should perform noticeably better than the duals on that motor. I doubt that the auto tune will get you where you need to be; have it tuned.

One thing of note, the Fatcat is notorious for having a "dip" in performance in the 3200 range. Some people notice it, others don't. It can be tuned out but an autotuner might not get it. Have it tuned by someone who is knowledgable and you will like the results. The Fatcat is a good pipe.
