2010 Road King exhaust and performance recommendations
Just bought a 2010 Road King Classic, bone stock, and I have gotten different answers to each of the dealerships and tuners I've called. I have been told that because it has a CAT that now matter what you do it won't tune properly unless you install a free flow exhaust and get rid of the CAT.
What I really want to do it put exhaust, a/c stage one and a tuner on it. but if it won't really run right would i be better off just putting exhaust on it so at least it sounds better?
Could I do exhaust and stage 1 ac without haveing to spend another $450 plus labor for a harley tuner?
Any advice, recommendations are welcome! Thank you!

You're in a trap I'm afraid! All new vehicles, including our Harleys, have to meet strict exhaust emissions regulations. The cat on your bike is part of that and the electronics on your bike are designed to work with your cat. Change anything and the cat gets in the way of making your bike work properly.
To do a stage 1 on your bike will involve getting rid of the cat. Once you have done that the tuner will change your bike to run on optimum air/fuel ratios, instead of the lean burn ratios it is currently designed to run on.
It is no longer cheap to modify a bike, of any brand. But you should find, when you go the whole hog, that your bike is a great deal better to ride. Hope that helps a bit! My wife bought a new Sportster in March this year and we decided not to spend on a stage 1, at least for now.
