Default andrews 21n vs 26n

Ok i know this is probably been hashed over but the search feature sucks never can find what im looking for. Going to the new tensioner setup using a new style camplate and tensioners. My bike is a 03 carbed heritage rarely ride 2 up and i dont think i have ever came close to rev limiter. looking for good low to mid range use. I will go to the 95" big bore in the future. But for now im doing the cam chest I am wondering which of the two cams would be what i need. Im leaning toward the 21n. Maybe some folks could help me make up my mind. Thanks

Purely my opinion, but I would probably get the 26. It will be a good cam now, but it will be a really good cam when you do the 95".

I would tell you to wait until you're ready to do the 95" big bore to decide which cam to use. It opens up more options.
However, if you're dead set on installing a cam in the 88", the 26 is probably a better option, as it allows you more leeway when it comes to compression once you go to 95".
I've got a 21 build. Not going to knock it, it's fun and has plenty of low end torque. However, I'll be swapping out cams and rocker arms this winter.

Im doing the camchest to replace the tensioners dont have the funds for the 95 yet but i dont want to have the engine be trashed waiting for the 95 cause of the tensioners.

Waiting until you go to 95" would be the wise thing to do; many more options. You could just replace the tensioners and wait. But, if you can't wait, install the 26 with a 4* advance gear and when you bump displacement to 95", install the 26 straight up. Impatience impairs ones judgement but a common ailment of the first timer and often results in regret, do overs and mo money.

I just got the new tensioner set up and the 21's. I am not bumping mine up to a 95 and plan to stay with the 88. I did a ton of searchs and research before making my decision. I have to say I absolutely love the 21's, pulls like a locomotive. And I too rarely go above 4,500 rpm. But I am a big guy, I ride two up a lot and have no intention on a further build. With all my research for what's its worth, if I were you, I would go with the 26's as the gentleman have indicated above.

I am doing an install on 05 88 inch motor with 21 andrews. I picked it over the 26 just because he wanted more low end tq and wanted to come on sooner.

21 pulls 1700-4800

26 pulls 1800-5200

I did the changeover to the hydraulic tensioners and Andrews 26N cams at 49,500 miles. Hit 85,000 miles on a road trip last week. Motor runs better than the day it was new. No worries on the reliability.

There's good guidance on the Andrews website. "if you ride like this, then the cam you want is this"... I also found their tech support line very helpful and cooperative.
