I have questions concerning a bike I just brought 1988 1200 sportster first Harley for me.anyway the bike will not start when the enricher (CHOKE) is all the in? it will when its about half out but shortly after I push it in it just stalls and will not stay running even if I use the throttle lock? I replaced the plugs they were a dry black I would assume that means running rich but thats caused by the enricher being opened? and I get the same results.Should I start by getting some carb cleaner like seafoam or something?Have some knowledge on carbs but im really stumped here the bike will stay running as long as the enricher is 3/4 to half out starting to notice blueing on Tailpipe where it comes out of cylinder head.
I would like to take it to a shop but its about a half hour or so away Im afraid to do that because I dont want to damage the engine would appreciate any input here
