Default Life of an EFI 96cid.

How many miles can be expected from a modern EFI 96 motor if not abused/no internal mods?

150-200k easily. A friend has 165,000 on his 02, and runs strong.

Pulled an 88"er apart with over 130,000 on the clock. Crank seemed fine.
Needed chain shoes, bores were a tick out, and needed a valve job, and is still in service, approaching 180,000 plus now.

Around 3500 after which you will want to rebuild to something bigger!

Seriously, however, the 96" has few problems so with regular love, it should last for quite a while.

That can vary just like with cars, but take good care of it and keep the oil changed, etc, you should be trading it before it dies.

Did you have any issues with the transmission main bearing?

Yes, replaced at 51,000, along with about every other bearing and seal in the tranny and primary. Also on my third compensator. Last one was SE comp, replaced at no cost under warranty.
