Oil in the fuel tank ?? Please help

There's gas in the oil tank ( I have a 87 sportster-1100 cc-evo engine) Any ideas why and how to fix it ? So far I just drained it .Please help !!

Could have a float that is stuck or a bad seat on the fuel needle that is allowing fuel to continue to leak throughthe carb, and into the cyls, then into the crankcae when the engine is shut off. Make sure the fuel valve is shut off each and every time you turn off the engine. Does the ngine run ok or does is start hard and act like it is flooded?
