Anyone using S&S 585 cams in a stock 88? I have a thunderheader, stage 1 SE ac and a stage 1 download....
Are they too much cam for what i have?

 

Yep, and too much lift for stock valve ssprings. S&S 510s would work fine as would a lot of other mild cams.

 

Yes, that's a lot of cam for an 88. The 510's would be our pic also and they work very well on up to 98"'s with ported heads.

 

I have the 585G and I think it would be to much for stock heads and lifters . I guess we will see what else others answer. That cam likes compression also.

 

I'll look into the 510s, just looking for some cheaper Hp...
