Default Carbs which one

After talking to different wrenches about pros. and cons. of carb's verses EFI , I have found the one thing that most have told me is if you are looking for Horses and performance go with a carb and ignition other than stock HD. Which brings me to the meat of my question which carb S&S or Mikuni or is there another contender out there I don't know about.

The S&S is an american product, why would you want to take off a jap carb and replace it with another jap carb?

THis question is kinda like "which pipe" or "which seat".....

You'll get responses based on personal experience and preference. Properly tuned, the Mikuni, S&S, and even the CV carbs that HD uses are all good. Best bet is get one that "your tuner" is good with. I "hear" that the S&S carbs are a bit more finicky and difficuly to tune.

Having said that, I used a Mikuni HSR42 on my last RG and it was AWESOME! There was a huge difference even when the bike was realitively stock. Once engine mods were done.... the HSR42 was still more than adequate and work flawlessly.
