I am picking up my bike tomorrow after having new cams and gear drives installed. My cams were just about to the metal at 23,000 miles. No more worries for me.

I had to have mine replaced (03 RKC 95cu) as they were started making noise around 20K. Dealer did gears, chain, and tensioner at the same time since it was warranty work and they already had it apart, but if I'd have thought about it a little more at the time I would have gone with the gears. Gotta agree with xxxflhrci on this one.

If you are looking to keep your bike and ride it, spend the bucks now and get gears so you won't have to worry about it again or pay someone else to replace the tensioners a third time. They are 80 bucks a pair. It doesn't take many tensioner swaps at a repair shop to add up to the cost of the gears.

Sorry TC.... I did not catch the rest of your question!

The Andrews 26G is great cam for baggers. It has great low end and works perfectly in 88 & 95" motors with just basic stuff done to them. They like stock heads and stock compression.

We installed just cams and 95" pistons & jugs in PipeDADDY's 05 RG & after tuning he had 82HP & 98ft/lbs of torque! Forget the HP #'s... It's the torque that you feel and get that baby movin! On that build, he has Ness Big Sucker, D&D 2 1/2" slip-ons and a PCIIIusb... That's it!

GREAT power, reliability, and very fun to ride... and in his words "On the Cheap"!

Reading all the posts about the gear drive cams, is there a set of gear cams close enough to stock that you won't have to use a PCIII or other fuel management device?
I like the way my bike runs now but concerned about the cam tensioners.

Thanks

Either Andrews 21 or 26. I put 26's in my bike. It ran great with the Stage I download, air cleaner, stock headpipes, and slip-ons. I later swapped to V&H Dual headpipes. The bike still ran o.k., but felt like it was lacking a little. I added a DFO and it was more responsive.
