Difference between a Stage 1 and stock air Intake
Can anyone tell me the difference between the 2? I understand that one lets in more air than the other, but is their any other differences. could I accomplish the same thing by removing the stock cover and running it that way (not that I would want to), or is there more involved? I am just trying to understand to hole picture not just the fact that you get more air.

So what your saying is that all you would need is a high flow filter not necessarily the entire kit?
there are always shortcuts, some work, some don't but if you understand the concept and have the materials anything can be done. that is how the makers do it. fab it and see if it works. (not saying by any means that you don't understand it) I just don't see spending $200-$400 if it is something I can do at home for $50.
