Default 58mm throttle body air cleaner question. What air cleaner can i use

I have a 2010 Street Glide and getting the 103 stage IV screamin eagle kit installed. I bought a S&S dual runner intake that is supposed to fit a 50mm throttle body. However the screamin eagle kit has a 58mm throttle body. So as of now the S&S air cleaner is useless. I did see that the screamin eagle heavy breather fits both a 50mm and 58mm throttle body. Would I be able to use the screamin eagles backplate to install the S&S air cleaner or what about a JIMS 58mm throttle air cleaner backplate? I havent seen one up close but wouldnt the holes all match up? Any help would be great. If not then I guess I have to sell the S&S. If anyone is interested shoot me a PM. Its brand new and still in the box

If I'm not mistaken, the Heavy Breather kit includes an adapter that allows the Heavy Breather's 58 mm opening to reduce down to fit a 50 mm TB.

So if you have a 58 mm TB then the adapter is not used. It just bolts up to the TB. The other thing to think about is the Heavy Breather comes with breather bolts with holes in them that allows the crankcase pressure to vent back into the intake area. The breather bolts also come with the Heavy Breather kit....although they can be ordered separately. Just be sure to order the correct length.

If your S&S is a 50 mm intake, I'd make it simple and sell it to someone and buy an AC for your 58 mm TB.

No bolts come with the Heavy Breather, at least none came with mine, you are instructed to re-use the stock bolts, not the ones from a Stage 1 style backing plate. The other thing is no matter how tempting it is to drill out the stock bolts for better breathing......don't, just bolt it up.

What about having your local machine shop modify it to work??
We just re-worked a RSD backing plate to fit an HPI 62mm t/body.

That is a smart idea. I will ask the tech if they can do that or maybe even see if they can use a JIMS 58mm back plate to machine so it fits my air cleaner

R&R Cycle just came out with a unit that comes complete, installs in less than a half hour. They have several different cover plate designs.

Okay ... is it the 'V' shaped intake that necks down into one T/B and intake manifold ...?

... or is it the dual runner with a separate intake manifold into each intake port ...?

If it is the latter ... your question is OBE ... (because your 58mm T/B would not work with the setup) ....

However, if it is the former, IMO it doesn't make much sense to bore out a 50mm fitting to a 58mm T/B ... my impression of S&S is that the design of the two runners is not just to be stylin' ... they are engineered to create a certain CFM flow given the parameters ....

Just my $0.02 ... but, I'd probably sell it and go with one designed for 58mm T/B ....

p.s. I could not find the dual runner with separate manifold runners on the S&S website ... the photo of the dual runner from MC Advantages webpage shows what it looks like ....
