I foresee problems if you dont adress the mileage on your connecting rods. To be safe Still check your connecting rods. The stock rods have no race they are just heat treated and the bearing rollers ride on the powdered metal rods. Beter be safe then sorry. hope everything works out for you.

How did the possibility of rod problems get involved in a straight up top end rebuild on a lower unit with 30K miles. Easy enough to check if you are concerned. If you can't feel any vertical movement when you push/pull on the rods and side clearance is within spec, you are good to go. I would seriously doubt that there is any problem with your connecting rods and certainly wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

I would think that would be something to check when the tec puts it back togeather but again better safe than sorry.As far as this build goes I would also think that Tr,Scott,Don and the other people I have spoken with about this build it would have come up at some point in our conversations.
