Seems like there is a new "cam of the month" every year. Sounds weird said like that, but it is what it is. Great cam for the 88, 95, 98 builds.
Seems like the 555's are the cam of the month this year. (96, 103 builds). I'm still not sure they are any better than the 54's from last year. I think I'd lose power trading my 54's for them right now.

However, if the OP is talking to Don (Deweys Heads) Dorfman and Dorfman likes the 37 for the build, I would take is advice if he ported the heads.

Agree on the caution not to 'over cam' ... one of the reasons I started that thread and posted the data ... hopefully as a service to those who were 'doing their homework' ....
I was planning on going with Andrews 54, originally ... then, was thinking I might be overdoing it and 'moderated' to a 37 grind ... I think I did the right thing ....

Speaking of not over-camming, we built a 117" with a Wood 6/1.725 rockers, set at 10.3 cr, for a client in San Jose last winter, that was tuned by Bruce at Horsepower Express, in the San Fran Bay area.
Our Stage IV, 2" valve head, 55 HPI, S/E slip-on mufflers.
Final SAE, was 118.5/135 plus ft/lbs, showing 120 ft/lbs as early as 2300 rpms.
This was in a Dyna!!

N-grin ...not apposed to a cam change since I need to address the tensioners. What cam would you recommend?I talked to t-man he said his 525/590...Bob wood his tw7h6r with his tensioner upgrade and Hillside said a tw5-6 or or the 6-6...Deweys said he likes the andrews tw37 or the 54......what do you do????????
Have your connecting rods checked. stock rods do not have races. Hell just get the 4-3/8 stroke have it plugged, trued, balanced and welded for $450 at revperf. If you want to use stock crank have them replace your connecting rods with h-beam or have them drill and race your originals(lots of options.)
lots of options on cams I like the wood555, but check with others that have used other cams. Looks as if you get the grunt and the top end with that cam.hear a lot of good things on Wood cams, just get the SE18404 adjustable pushrods to get rid of noise. replace your lifters. there cams are quiet just get a bad rep due to missadjustment or used lifters, from what I have read. bore jugs to next size bigger and get cast flatops. No need for forged pistons your not reving it past 5000 all the time. not to mension the flame travel will be faster on a flatop. put squish at .030-.032.. Change all the bearings in the bottom end if you pull the crank. No need for timken upgrade but the SE lefty is a good choice.
Might have 3k into build.
