Default Different Endcaps make SE Slip-on's Louder?

I have the Screamin' Eagle® Street Performance Touring Mufflers on my 07 FLHTC. I had them nstalled with the 4 inch Piston Endcap. I have read that the slash cut endcaps will make thepipes louder than the Piston style endcaps. Can anyone validate this is true? And if it is true, WHY does it make them louder? I like the pipes bout would love just a bit more sound.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I RUN THE 8 INCH SLASH CUTS AND THEY ARE LOUDER BECAUSE THERE IS A LONGER DISTANCE AND THE SLASH DOES NOT TAPER DOWN TO MUFFLE ANY SOUND BUT RATHER IS WIDE OPEN.

Hey Mack,
What mufflers are you running? Are you running the SE 64985-07 Street Performance touring mufflers? Thanks for feedback!
