woods 408-6 VS. tman 662-1 cams
What are some opinions on the two of these cams in a 120r motor? Thinking about building one of these motors up and running either of these cams. I want killer stump pulling torque down low in the power band (below 4000 rpm). This engine is 10.5:1 comp and plan on keeping it there. any real world experience on these cams? I have read ALL the other 120r threads already so no need to post links to them or tell me to do a search. Just wondering if anyone has ACTUAL experience with these cams.

Just last week I speced a 120r with a 662 tman bump the comp up about 10.8 or 11.1
And My New Dragula step header 2:1 EXHAUST will support up to 110/ 280 hp and 200/350 with baffle change.
2 year warranty
3 step header ceramic coat inside out 2mls thick each side=4mls
4.05 can 3.00 baffle or 3.50 baffle
This pipe is bigger than a Boarzilla.
I have seen what the woods 408-6 cam does against a Tman 666-2 Built blower motor. We have done one of each.
The Woods flat lined on us. The Tman 666-2 kept going with more rpm.
They are not the same cam.
Now these are Built motors with Blowers on them. Cant speak for Built motor with out a blower side by side comp.
Both Woods or Tman cams would work very well for this build. But again they are not the same cam.

Your right my bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry My heads up my A%^&* this morning!!!!! LOL
We ran this cam in a 98 inch Built bike with blower it made 170 hp..
I think you would like the 662-2 better.
But either way you will be good.

the tw8 cam is staying in the 107" hillside build that is going on a dyna. As far as clutch, I am using a Barnett Scorpion clutch.
Frank, why do you thing the 662-2 would make me happier that the 662-1? It looks like the torque would come in a little later with the 662-2..no?
Do you feel that the compression bump is necessary. After talking to Dave at JD's cycle (my tuner), he suggests leaving the compression where it is and run the 662-1 with a set of roller rockers and call it a day.
TR at tman, does say the 662-1 likes to run at a little higher compression, but suggests going with Dave's advice. I just want to put this thing together ONCE for this season, and not make a mistake in the design of the build and have to do it again. If the consesus is to bump the compresion up 2-3 points, that is what i will do. How would you guys go about bumping it? head gasket or decking the heads?

TR said the same thing about my 103" build, run the 662-1s at 11.1:1 comp. Said that if i wanted the bike to run a little cooler i could bring the comp down to like 10.8 but he said it really shines at 11+. Im plannin on runnin a cooler anyway so as long as im not pegged at 90-95mph all day runnin through the back roads of texas in august it should be ok.
Also, for the ride i want the 662-1 was suggested because the Tq does come on a bit earlier and TR said its a fun cam to ride if ya like that punch down low.

With 662-1 at lower rpm I would say from 1000/2500 it will make 3/5 tq more than a 662-2. from there on out it the 662-2 will make over all 8/12tq across the board and 10/12 more HP from 2500 and up!!!!
And at 10.8.1 or 11.1 those cams love comp....
Either way you will be happy.

I'm no expert but... The 662-1 with its timing events set at 10.5-10.6:1 static compression will put the corrected compression numbers very close to other camshafts that have a 50-52* intake closing event, set at 11.0:1 static compression. Isn't that what matters?? Isn't that corrected compression value important to what allows you to control detonation and work the timing/fueling of the tune??
