Default Best tool for baffle removal?

I just received new baffles for my Rush slipons, and would like to change them out myself. They're held in by one screw, which is easy enough. But what's the best tool for pulling the baffles out of the pipe? I'd really not pay someone to do what looks like a simple job.

Thanks.

Phil,

You'll like the sound if you got 2.5" baffles!!!

You gotta get one of these (I suggest buying 4) - two busted while I tried to first pull out baffles without WD40.

Tusk Exhaust Spring Tool Rocky Mountain ATV
Our price: $3.99
Part# 196010

And this hook makes it much simpler to get them out - especially in combination with a slide hammer kit.
"slide hammer and puller set" Pittsburgh Model 5469 from Harbor Freight Tools for $18.

I used LOTS of WD40 and jerked it back and forth until they came loose. It was a CHORE!!!

In hind sight, I'd use PB Blaster (Autozone) next time instead of WD40. That sh$t works. Had to replace a frozen "rusted in" ECG valve on my 2000 Windstar - came out like butter.

Hope this helps ya brother.

PLEASE let me know how it goes and what you think of the sound. Ride safe.

Thanks Dave,

I'll go over to Autozone tomorrow and get some PB Blaster; they may also carry the hooks.

These baffles are for a Heritage Softail Classic. I bought the Rush slipons, which came with 2" baffles,
just before leaving L.A. for Reno. I loved the sound--a nice deep rumble--but by the time I got to Reno
these old ears were really ringing, so I ordered the 1.75" baffles. Just a little quieter will be just right.

BTW, I'm also from Boston originally. Brighton, Boston Latin School, etc. But that was long ago and far away.

That's an awsome ride you have there!

Phil,

Your trip report on LA to Reno was "wicked pissa" - you ought to ride around the country then write a book!!! Great style.
