AMS Lifters?

Johnson Hy-Lift Lifters
I am currently amassing parts to do a hop-up on my 2005 Sportster. I just got back my 2007 Buell XB12 heads from NRHS in Longmont Colorado with stage 3 porting, 1.940 intake valves, 1.615 Exhaust valves, 30 degree squish band chambers to match the pistons and compression releases.
I'm going to use S&S .600 cams, tapered adjustable push rods, R&B Racing 2 into one pipes, and I just sent my 44mm Screamin Eagle Carb to Zippers to have them tweek it and have a Thunder Jet installed. That is a 3rd fuel circuit for 4,400 rpm and above. I'm going to tune it myself using R&B Racing's Air Fuel Ratio Gage. I was going to use Jims Hydrosolid lifters but a good friend of mine here in Portland Oregon advised me not to. He said that they were very noisy and need adjusting every 2,000 miles. He told me to use American Machine Supply's Johnson Hylift lifters. My friend is Dan Baisley of Baisley's High Performance. His word is good enough for me. I called AMS the same day and ordered a set. I also run Baisleys Roller Rocker Arms I listen to racers that know what works and not Marketing Guys trying to sell widgets. Thats just my opinion. To each their own.

Almost forgot to include the part number for the lifters I ordered from AMS was A2203-S. The "S" is for Slow Bleed.
Steve at AMS told me to use Slow Bleed lifters because of the high lift cam and heavy spring combination.
Sportsters 2000 to present use .8240" OD

I have never used the AMS lifters but they have had some QC issues in the past. The Harley "B" lifter is hard to beat; can't beat them for the price. Ifyou are sure the lifters are the source of the noise and have tried more pre-load, checked pushrod to tube contact, etc. spring for the new Woods lifters. If the lifters are the source of the noise, there have been several members of other forums, one here that I know of, that solved the problem with Wood's new lifter. You didn't mention cams but some are just plain noisy; Woods new lifter is supposed to help with noish cams as well. They are pricey but if you hate valve train noise as much as I do, they are worth the money.
