Not impressed with cams!

RE: Not impressed with cams!
I have seen dyno's for several of these Wild Things builds and have noticed a trend. If they are not tuned at World Class Tuning (where Mike Roland works) they just don't seem to get the numbers that Kurakyn claims they can get. I would get a hold of Mike Roland by calling him, or joining Harley Tech Talk on MSN to post a question for him. He is fairly regular on that site. There are also lots of very knowledgable people running Wild Things parts over there that can probably help as well.

I am sure a 160 was too lean for your bike. If you go to the Mikuni website they have some info about throttle position and determining rich/lean condtions. What is important for you is drivability issues. I think a dyno session with an air / fuel ratio read out is the best way to sort out your carb and ignition curve. But a 175 is an excellent starting point for your main jet...........

The Dyno would be great except I can't find one in CA anymore, unless someone can point me to one? They all were threatened by California air resources board with fines for smog violations. according to the mikuni web site tuning guide, seat of the pants testing using a sectioned off distance is more accurate than the dyno since its real world condition. Just finding somewhere to do full throttle runs isnt realistic, unless you are in BFE. I will keep working though. I was running a 195 with my cv but I know the mikiuni's run rich so I hope this is close with the 175.

OK getting closer!! I was runnin way lean opposite of what I thought. I fattend it up and got better results. now the power pulls longer but it cuts out almost like it hittin the rev limiter. I think it may be starving for fuel, cuz it the same feeling as when u have to flip it to reserve. anyone else experience anything likr that? let me know if I am on the right track?
