Default cam plate

Hello, I have a Road King 2000.

I have recently changed my cam plate to a hydraulic tensioner version (by Screaming Eagle) with a high volume oil pump. After having done that, I noticed that when I ride, the volume of my oil decreases in my reservoir and when the bike is in idle mode, the oil does not flow back to the oil tank. Before having changed my cam plate, the oil level was always OK and always flowed back to the oil tank. I verified the model of my previous cam plate, which was `00`, therefore I should not have to plug the oil passage hole but with the `99 model we must plug the oil passage. I took the oil pressure, it was at 28 psi. at approximately 2,800 rpms.

Is there anyone who has experienced this problem and if so, what did you do to correct it?

Sumping? You may have to take it apart and make sure the cam plate o'rings are correctly installed.

Sumping comes to mind for me as well. Does it run hotter than it did before? Is the performance a little on the sluggish side? Could be bad seal at the scavenge port or oil pump not aligned correctly.

djl hit it on the head.
The "O" ring on the back side of the pump is not sealed/seated, or was torn upon install, from what we've witnessed.
