Default Popping Back Through the carb

03 Fatboy 28k miles, stage 2 carb, cams , head, with v&h shotguns.
Its a little worse when cold, but on slight throttle wants to pop back, also engine smells like its burning oil (like and old car engine smell. Live by the ocean and i'm wondering if there is corrosion or sticky rings on the pistons......all the leading edges and most of chrome is getting corrosion.
ANYONE Having similar prob?

"stage 2 carb"?

The stock Cv carb would often "sneeze" through the carb when opening the throttle at about 1800 RPM.
That's why we all modified or tuned our carbs.
It could also be timing too advanced ( unlikely), but if you compression ratio is higher than stock that could be it.
and to check intake manifold to head seals, with bike idling, spray wd40 or carb cleaner, through the little red tube at the manifold/head junction, if the idle picks up speed, you have just located a leak- go slow, one area at a time

Default The evel one

Yeah it's probably lean.....caused by improper jets or a leak in the intake around the heads.....

Set the air/idle screw @ 3 turns, and bump the pilot jet up 1 at a time 'till it's gone.
You may have to adjust the idle speed as well.
