Default 107", Wood 555, Stage III Heads

Jamie, from Fuel-Moto, just tuned a 107" of our, with our Stage III Heads, Wood 555, OE FBW, and his Jackpot Pro Touring Mufflers.
It ran off at 110.02 hp, and 120.03 ft/lbs.
Peak torque @ 3400, and hp peak was @ 5700.
Makes 100 ft/lbs from 2500 thru 5700.
83.27 F
28.95 in-Hg.
Humdity 6%
SAE 1.02
Client says it picks the tire on the FLHX with roll-on throttle around 3000 rpms.
Sounds like fun to me!!

The numbers are good, but the clients quote is awesome. That's the feel I want to get out of my bike. What does the motor package like that run?

Hey Scott-

I've seen Jamie's comparison between the TW555 and TW6-6, but how does it stack up to the TW8?

The 8 requires more compression, and won't hit as hard down low, and will move the power over to the right, and will out-horsepower the little hopped-up 6(555), from what we could say. Have never done back/back, as the 555 just came to market about 6-7 weeks ago, but the cam specs will alert to this.

I fully agree Scott, the TW-555 (which is really a variation of the 6-6) will have very different characteristics than the TW8-6. The TW6-6 and TW-555 are designed as drop in cams. The 8 cam is pretty agressive, it requires different valve springs and for best results more compression. With the right combination it would definetly be a very strong runner.

Thanks Scott and Jamie. I appreciate the feedback. I can't stop "tinkering" with anything.....no matter how it runs. My 113" currently has the T-Man 590, set at about 10.6-10.7:1 compression. I need to get it back on the drum and do a side-by-side comparison with the Fatcat Std baffle vs Big Bore Quiet. After that, I may work myself into the cam chest and do more testing. Heads are only set up for .600 lift, so I don't want to pull 'em and change springs.

I never here anybody mention the woods TW-400-6 cams. I am new at this so My question would be. Is this not a good cam choice for this type of build and if so maybe Jamie could give me a little insight as to why? appreciate any feed back I can get.

Thank you,

Not Jamie, but being Bob Wood's largest account, we have worked with that grind many, many times. From 95"ers to 124"(YIKES!!!)
Absolutely brutal torque delivery,(his 408 will carry out further, although) that'll just about flatline, set-up correctly.
Like turning a light switch on.
You'll need roller rocker arms for that one, and a strong grip.
