Default Cam plate conversion?

I'm planning on doing the SE cam plate conversion to the newer style of hydro tensioners and bigger oil pump. Any pros and cons would be greatly appreciated before I pull the trigger.

No cons really. I did the conversion 2 Winters ago and no problems.

I used the SE Cam Plate but to be honest the standard Cam plate is probably fine and you'll save a ton of money.

If you use the Harley kit just know that they don't replace both chains which you really should do. I bought all the parts separatly.

I went with Andrews 37N Conversion Cams.

Thanks Mike,

I didn't know I needed to change a chain. Which one? Inside or outside?

The kit uses the original silent chain inside and the new roller chain on the outside
If you want to do this right get a conversion cam and use all OEM 07up TC parts. Forget the kit. There have been oil pressure issues (relief valve sticks), and the anodized alloy appears to be not as robust as original because the pump interface wears faster. The OEM 07up part with plain bearings assembles in 15 minutes and works every thime perfectly.

Default Hybrid Cam plate and pump kit

I installed this kit and I now have 20 PSi pressure at 2000 RPM. The old pump had 38 to 42 PSI at thar speed. My Harley Dealer says 20 Psi is fine.
I think the relief valve is sticking open but not sure. I have been back in 3
times I have taken the relief valve out, looks fine. Looks like the Dealer is not going to help at all. I understand a stronger spring is available for the valve.
I started to stretch the spring but decided again'st it. My bike is a 99 superglide so I have to use the original chain and sprockets due to the cam sensor. Wish I had gone with Fueling or converted to the late model with conversion cams. I am running thr beehive springs, 7MM valves on small
chamder 99 heads. the 255 Cams look very tempting.

Been running a SE up date kit for 10,000 to 15,000 miles not and no problem. Even thaw you are running chain cams you need to check the pinion shaft run out. All so make sure you change the POOR INA cam case bearings as well to the much better Torrington bearings. You understand that it takes quite a few special tools.

I was going to post this in a seperate thread but since you started a thread about the conversion, if you dont mind I will post it here. So if the SE Hybrid kit uses the newer style outer, if you want to add an advance gear do you order one for 07 and up? Thanks

Yes. BTW, the OP is going on 3 years old. Might want to check next time and start a new thread; old posts are often ignored, just a suggestion.

I know, you missed the point. If I hadn't pulled up the post, it would have likely been ignored and you wouldn't have an answer to your question where starting a new post would have gotten an answer and most likely more than one. But, if you think hijacking a three year old post is the way to get your question answered, please, continue the practice.
