Headwork is good for 10/10 but I wouldn't waste headwork on the 255s. Toss the 255s, install Andrews 48H and you have a chance plus much more usable power. Definitely change the pipe; a Thunderheader will do nicely, or a Fatcat. If you are going to do headwork, change cams. JMHO.

What was used to tune it. Mid 90's for torque should not be a problem with the 255 cams.

There are some around; call Andrews directly and they will tell you which distributors they are sending cams to.

Even if you can get 100TQ peak from the 255s, the torque under the curve is not where most of us ride.

Out of curiosity what are you running? 88/96??? Injected/Carb? How much money do you have? Head work is great idea if you want to change cams. But wait a minute... If you change cams then why not punch it out and add some dome pistons,, say 12.5 -1 comp.??? The truth is, your not dreaming!!! You have to decide first what you can afford. Most folks this day and age do a little at a time and add a little here and there. Unless you have the money to back it up, I suggest you take the frugal approach and add 2 into1 pipes. Reality is: How far do you want to go? The fastest bike or one that is reliable.

its a 2011 heritage, injected.money is no problem,im just trying to see what this combination does as far as what helps torque.i know how to make hp but this go round i want to see how much torque i can build.im also after realiabity so i dont need a bike that has to make its power in the 4500 and up range.i just kinda experimenting with this basic setup to see what it can do.

Where do most of us ride?

On a bagger cruising the highway, I think those cams put it where most of us ride.

On a dyna huntin squids, there isn't enough in the midrange or up top out of those cams where most of us ride.

A 30T pulley will give you a nice SOP feel, the stock gearing is too tall.

I think most of us spend the majority of our riding time between 3000 and 5000 rpms.

I wasn't so much referring to the cams themselves as his application for the cams. The 255s in a stock configured 96" with slip on mufflers typically will be all in by 3000rpms. If you like to short shift and don't want much bounce after 3000rpms (bagger cruising rpms) the 255 is an adequate cam. I like my bike to stand up and move when I twist the throttle in 5th between 3000 and 3500 rpms when the 255 is falling on its face.

Now if gpp puts a D&D Fatcat with the quiet baffle installed and gets the bike in the hands of a good tuner, he will likely see the 98TQ he is looking for and hang on to it to 4000rpms but not with his current exhaust system

I am just tellling gpp that, IMHO, there are better cam choices for a stock configured engine, like the 48H, the would be much more fun to ride.
