Default HSR Woes

I have a 01 88b, last year I was getting about 40mpgs, I found a air leak this spring and replaced all the gaskets on the intake. I had broke the choke cable and replaced it with a mikuni cable. I now get around 30 mpgs. There is free play in the cable, I now have a 165 main, 50 pump nozzel, 17.5 pilot jet and a 98 needle clip in the middle. By all rights this set up should get me around the 40+ mpg's. What else do I check or do. I also put new wires and plugs in the bike.

I would look into that cable issue, i believe that a spring will need to be changed to make the Mikuni cable work properly.

out of curiosity warm up the bike and turn the mixture screw in all the way,if it stays running smoothly, the enricher might be the problem.

Ran the air screw in an the bike stalls. Could I have messed up the throttle cables?

engine stalls with mixture screw all the way in, that is a good sign.

IDK, on how cable issues would effect mileage.

maybe drop the main a half step. or lower the needle down one clip and see what that dose.

Waht about a possible ignition problem? I had help with the plugs being read and it appears we are to lean now. It was brought up it may be the screamin eagle ignition. Is there any way to verify the ignition?
