Default Do new pipes go mellow after a while...

...or is it one's ears that just get used to them and begin to shut them out?

I recently got a pair of Rineharts and found them too loud for me during the first few weeks of riding. Now I don't seem to notice them much anymore while I'm cruising.

Just wondering if this is common - and whether it's the mufflers or my ears that are mellowing out.

Of course, I expect they'll get even after I replace the header pipe...

You are going deaf...... j/k You get used to them. Every time I have changed exhaust I notice the sound of it more. Eventually it becomes the norm again. If anything is they are mufflers with packing in them they will actually get louder. Not sure what you have in your Rineharts.

Yea, I know I'm going deaf - I just want to make sure my mufflers don't accelerate the process...
