painting pipes w/ hi-temp
really wanna do the wrap but don't feel like doing new pipes (and all that comes with it) just yet so i'm thinking about taking some s-paper to my heat shields and slip ons and hitting them with some hi-temp black.
anyone see any issues w/ this?
is it gonna be very durable? course, as hot as they are gonna get, i guess it kinda bakes it on there huh?
the next logical question is which paint?
and i know i gotta watch keep the can moving to keep an even coat and all.

RE: painting pipes w/ hi-temp
ok, i got a couple of cans and i am ready to go but i am getting conflicting input on how i should proceed.
some tell me to scratch them up good with steel wool and others are saying to use like 180grit and i've hear use upwards of 400grit.
so, i'm a little unsure now?
mostly everyone says once that is done, clean with alcohol and hit it with 3-4 coats. but i have heard that i am pretty much guarenteed that it will eventually bubble.
yes, no?

yeah guys, i got the paint!!!!!!!!!!! it's the prep part BEFORE the paint i'm getting conflicted on.
had a fourth guy tell me today that they have to be bead blasted or it won't stick at all. so thats:
1- steel wool
2- 180 grit
3- 400 grit
4- bead blast
who's right here?

I agree the prep is a very important part. You need to rough up that surface. I don't know about the Briggs paint, but I used the hi-temp krylon and it worked great. I've used it on the inside and outside on pipes works great.
